For one, a a physican group in LA treats, and has for a long time, ...

... treated a large number of Lupus patients. They have reported never having anyone with a bad reaction to the drug.

For a second, this drug has been on the market for 65 years. It's been used as treatment to cure and to prevent malaria since that time. Even today, if an American is traveling to a malarial infested region, they are strongly advised to take coloroquine before doing so, and American servicemen who are being sent to a malarial region are required to take the drug.

There is a world renown doctor, and no I don't remember his name, in Europe who, fairly early on in the fight, had a group of 40 and then a group of 80 patients who he gave hydroxycloroquine plus an antibiotic. He lost none of those patients. Obviously, all 120 patients could have gotten better without the cloroquine treatment. That's where a double blind clinical trial would tell if the cloroquine was the reason or not.

However, in no case, has serious side effects been noted, neither with the long time Lupus use, nor with fighting against malaria, nor with the "off label" use to fight Wuhan coronavirus.

Also, as of yesterday I believe, a once skeptical Gov Cuomo admitted that doctors in NY had reported good results when using the anti-malarial, anti Lupus drug.
