The scariest thing about it is that it's not just the "weak" dying off.
Perfectly healthy young people are dying, too. Not that it would be all that much better to just let it run wild and kill 2M old people, but it wouldn't just be old people.
And even if you set all that aside, why wouldn't you just apply the same rationale to the economic impacts? Wouldn't that just be a different example of culling the weak?
