I tried many methods.
Finally settled on cutting the butt in half and smoking it for 8-10 hours at 250-285. you get more of the bark and the cook time drops a good bit.
I keep smoke on it for the first 3 hours then don't worry too much about the wood. simple and low maintenance, gonna follow your lead tomorrow and throw mine on around 7am.
