I don't know if there is as direct a correlation between ticket price and

...attendance as you would think.

The ticket price itself is only part of the cost of attending a college football game. Especially in Blacksburg, which is a long way from most major population centers. My car gets good mileage but I still spend about $50 just driving to Blacksburg and back. There's what you have to donate to be allowed to buy season tickets. There's paying for parking. There's exorbitant hotel rates. There's what you pay to put on your multi-hour tailgate which is a part of the gameday experience.

The last couple years a friend has had a camper so I have been lodging in Blacksburg for free. But before that, when you look at what I was paying to go to a Tech game for over 2 decades, the ticket was probably about 10% of the total cost. So lowering or raising the cost of a ticket by 20 bucks really wasn't going to factor in my decision or not.
