I think the way he introduced me to it was very clever, and I really didn't know I was learning principles I would use for the rest of my life.

Two examples:
- He taught me how to "make change" when I was probably 8 or 9 years old. He had me working in the volunteer fire department's hotdog stand at our high school football games. I loved doing that, and still love screwing with today's teenagers who are totally clueless about that simple procedure.

- I mowed lawns for a summer job, and our mower was on it's last legs when I was about 12-13. I told my dad we needed a new mower, and that Saturday he took me to our local bank to cosigned a signature loan for a new mower. I paid it off over the next two months from my mowing profits, and that taught me the lessons about borrowing, interest, and most importantly, paying off my debts!
