...(the students) were presented for our assignments. That stuff was really dry, and authors like Falkner was about as far from exciting as I could think. My big brother tossed me a Sci-Fi book, and I became hooked on reading about three chapters in. Heck, I couldn't get enough of reading, and to my surprise, it actually helped me get through those dry, boring school assignments much better than before.

It's amazing what it takes to generate interest in young teenagers...

The one high school teacher I would love to thank was my typing teacher. I think it was a short, 6-week class, but I've probably gotten more out of such a small piece of instruction than any other class. Never had any idea how much that would be used in the future...only thought it would help me type my college research papers. I have thanked her kids, and I bring it up to them every time I see either one of them.

My favorite high school class was probably physics. My teacher was a little goofy, but he made the class fun and everyone loved showing up for that class.
