I toured that plane last year hear in Richmond.

They had the whole fleet down here on the Wings of Freedom tour. My grandfather was killed in the Pacific theater during World War II flying a B-25 Mitchell and they have one of the last flying versions of that plane. I almost took my dad up in that same plane that crashed that day but timing just didn't work out and we really wanted to go up in the Mitchell but it wasn't flying that day.

If you've never seen one of those planes up close you should put it on your list. It's crazy to see them in person and see the conditions these guys were dealing with. Cramped, cold, sharp edges, no insulation, visibility poor, etc... etc.... The belly and tail gunners had it crazy bad. 16+ hour stints on their knees or bellies with pretty much no way to adjust til the planes landed.

Really sorry to hear about this. The pilots we met that day here in Richmond seemed to really know their stuff.
