Funny seeing this on here today...


I've been renovating the master bedroom suite in my house and after a year of demolition, wiring, plumbing, new hurricane windows and hurricane sliding door, framing closet/bathroom, sheetrock, etc... I'm just worn out and ready to have it done. Based on a referral from my neighbor I hired a contractor. Based on the work completed in her house I felt good about hiring the guy. As an investigator by trade, I did additional homework after the referral and knew just about everything I could (including when he was investigated by the state and ended up being found falsely accused). The work overall had been very good, but I came home yesterday and inspected the work completed and it was like an amateur did it. Nothing like any of the work previously completed. A call to the contractor last night and both him and his tile guy came out and completely removed the work from that day. I'm now getting a 10-year warranty on the work, contractor is eating all extra tile costs + wasted I am deducting from the final 50% of the agreed upon rate, and he is personally going to complete the finishing work.

Moral of the story, call and confront contractor/business owner and do it in a respectful way. You will mostly get good results.
