Lived in Phoenix at the time...


So we were 2 hours behind. Alarm set to radio at 6:50AM, first thing I remember hearing is "commuter plane has struck one of the WTC towers". Sat up and turned on the television. Saw the second plane hit while I was getting ready to head to the office. Knew it was terrorist related at that moment.

My plant was right along the flightline to Sky Harbor, the plant literally shared the property line with the airport. Was almost at the plant when the radio said Pentagon had been hit.

The surreal thing was when flight operations stopped and plane after plane came in on landing and parked on the apron across the runway. By noon, not a single plane taking off or landing. Being so close to the runway if a plane were taking off, you usually could not talk to someone due to the noise. Eerily silent for the next 4 days.
