If you miss 5 days, the school has to call and talk to you.


I think that is what it is now. It might even be that the principal has to meet with you face to face. They are really trying to crack down on missed days.
That said, i teach 2nd grade in Blacksburg and as long as its not more than a week, I wouldnt worry bout it.
I even took 3 days off in Feb a few years ago to take my family to Disney.
Also, if your kid is doing well and notfalling behind, missing s few days isnt a big deal. Ive had kids miss 20 plus days....and they really missed a lot, and it started to show. I would be careful though as you head into 3rd grade because of SOLs.....and def dont miss a lot of days near the end of school.
