Interesting theory. The opening sequence would seem to be a good hint

at it being true, but I'd allow for 1 more theory. Instead of Drogon being off and pregnant, it's also possible that Dany at Dragonstone took some of those eggs and walked into fire with them as well, though that's more recent so those dragons wouldn't be as old.
