Maybe..... but

Though I would be fine with OU & KU in the B1G, I don't think it will happen. I actually expect both to go to the SEC should they decide to leave the Big12 (which I'm not sure that they will).

Other than the "academic prestige" of the B1G, I don't think think there is much (other than maybe Nebraska) to draw OU toward a conference where they would be in a western division (unless the NCAA changes its rules) with teams (again excepting Nebraska) with which they have no history, a sports lineup which doesn't match up well with the B1G (no hockey, no lacrosse but they are somewhat baseball centric which the B1G is not) and one in which non-revenue sports would incur substantial travel obligations. Though the SEC does not have the academic prestige of the B1G, athletically OU lines up with the SEC much better than the B1G.

KU is much the same as OU. KU, though an AAU school, doesn't offer the B1G much other than more of what they already have. Athletically, basketball is already a fairly strong point with the B1G so adding KU might be considered "marginal." Like OU, KU's sports lineup is void of hockey, lacrosse, etc. but lines up fairly well with the SEC. KU in the SEC offers the SEC another AAU school (always a plus even though the leagues are athletic), basketball (and a yearly Kentucky rival game), not to mention reuniting with Missouri in "The Border War", and an athletic department stacked with SEC alums (AD Jeff Long and football coach Les Miles). There might be somewhat of a culture clash, KU not being much of a "southern state", but it is generally politically conservative (though not as "red" as much of the SEC) and does know Missouri well.

If OU & KU leave, I suspect Texas will try to hold the B12 together, at least until the LHN expires. They obviously would be in the driver's seat to get the remaining teams to agree to about anything UT wants as the alternative for most, if not all, remaining members would be at best the AAC. [Texas might try "independence" in football (with a "ND Deal" with the B12) parking their other sports in the "remaining" B12, possibly being expanded with 2-4 additional teams to get back to at least 10]. If that doesn't work they might try for a "ND Deal" with the ACC (which I think would be unlikely). Finally, as a last resort they would probably join the SEC, much to their chagrin. I just don't see them being interested in the PAC.

But, for the next couple of years this will all be just speculation. Will probably be 2022 or so until we begin to get a picture of what will happen with the media deals, especially with the B1G and Big12, But, in the interim, Alston and any "fallout" from that decision may impact college sports in ways that may be hard to imagine..
