That could work, but it could make things messy depending on


if the conferences have 1 or 2 divisions and what tiebreaker they use to determine which division champion earns the "conference champion" title too.

As a VT fan I would be bothered if VT was the Coast Division Champion, but Clemson (Atlantic Division Champion) got to represent the ACC in the game because it won the coin flip. I am assuming that both Clemson and VT have the same conference record and didn't play each other that season. In theory it is possible for both division champions to finish the regular season 12-0 or 13-0 (if they both play @Hawai'i). I know the odds are unlikely of that happening, but I do think at some point we will see 4 P5 teams finish the regular season undefeated. Once that happens it may not be as ridiculous to think that all 5 P5 conferences could end up with undefeated champions.
