So the home buying saga took an interesting turn last week
We closed on the house and starting moving things in, only to discover a strong cat pee smell downstairs. Previous owners covered it up with plug-ins and nobody caught it. Hit the carpet hard with a steam cleaner but no dice - still there. Nothing for it but to replace the carpet, about 1200 square feet worth. Called on neighbors and church members and it was totally gone in two hours. Then some neighbors who do this for a living spent the better part of two days helping us - for free - put in new laminate vinyl flooring. Would have taken me weeks to do and the craftsmanship is something I could never have equaled. Flooring cost north of $3K and I'm going after the seller to try and recover. But wow what an experience to have people willing to help like that.
