I actually agree with Jose, though I would phase out the fees...


...as to any objection that such would lead to no athletic facilities for students, I say no. The costs of those facilities should be included in the cost of regular tuition. If that cost increases "regular" tuition, so be it. It should. But the support of the athletic program should not be mandatory. I guess I just hate it as a separate, but required, fee. If it's required, make it part of tuition. If it isn't, make it optional. But don't tell me I'm paying for something I may not want. It's like getting Hallmark Channel because you wanted ESPN!!! (Oh wait, I guess that is where I am).
Having said that, I understand where VT is today. They can't just cut the fees. But they could cap them at the current number and then work to eliminate them over time.
Just my opinion. Feel free to disagree. Respectfully, if you can...
