That could likely backfire and cost more in lost donations...


A few schools have looked into cutting the nonrevenues, and found that it would have a net negative effect on their revenue due to lost donations. Specifically, I think Cal looked at cutting baseball, track & field, and others and they expected that lost donations from the alums of those teams would cost them more than the gain they would get from not funding those programs.
