Here's how it works for me


Verizon has a travel pass plan. Its a free option and as soon as you land in another country and use your phone, it kicks in. I believe most countries are $10 a day. Mexico and canada are $5 day. I got back from Mexico yesterday and it worked perfectly. Did it in europe a couple years ago and it did fine there too. Your current data and text/phone plan applies. So its very easy. Now if you are in europe for 10 days or longer that can get expensive. I think there are ways to beat the system with foreign chips etc but thats beyond my knowledge base. If its a quick trip and/or you have the discipline to only use your phone on wifi for some days, then the travel pass is pretty good
