A week ago, I addressed the question, “What will it take for Virginia Tech to reach the NCAA Tournament?”
Since, the Hokies have won twice, both on the road. They gritted out a victory at Georgia Tech after a very poor first half, and despite a season-high 19 turnovers at Miami, they won, courtesy of Darius Maddox’s game-winning 3-pointer.
Virginia Tech (18-11, 10-8 ACC) now sits squarely on the bubble for the Big Dance. ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has Tech as his first team in the Next Four Out, which is five spots out of the tournament.
The good news is that the Hokies finally have a coveted Quadrant 1 win (at Miami). They’re 1-5 in those contests, with two neutral site losses (Memphis, Xavier) and three road losses (Dayton, Duke and North Carolina).
