Love your notes and I'll add a few of mine.

BTW today is my 50th birthday and I told my wife "I want to go tot the UVA vs VT match!" She obliged and I think she really enjoyed the 3 hr drive down to enemy territory. OK enough about me and onto my observations -- I agree with hokietony's points.

The 141 forfeit had me baffled and I couldn't find Gus --rut roh. Quick lookup on TSL on my phone explained it....gulp dual got tight before it started. Down 0-6.

Blees wore that guy out and started slow and finished strong....one of the days highlights for sure.

Sully (FWIW has always been one of my favorites) -- something is really broken here and I have no idea what. He started strong and went up 2-1 and I though "OK good Sully will build on this and it will be a turning point for this year." Then the REVERSAL happened -- Sully put his head to the mat and was finished. That was it...he was a broken man. At this point I am hoping BC can get healthy and Sully can hit the reset button for next year. Being at the match you see things too -- the coaches did not look very pleased either.

McFadden -- business like.

Bolen -- another great one like the Blees match. What perseverance!!!

ZZ -- very workmanlike. My wife kept asking "Why is he letting him up?" I responded because this is practice and he is going to take him down again--and he did what seemed like a dozen times. Interestingly the UVa guy gave up in the third and was not moving. ZZ simply relaxed at the end with a couple ticks on the clock and suddenly the other guy gets the reverse. Robie and ZZ were pissed -- a teaching/learning moment but ZZ was outstanding.

Haught -- Yeah I swear he had two TDs that were not awarded. The first he freaking had the guy in a cradle. Whatever so he stacked him up for a pin anyway. Nice.

Dunn -- Very nice and at the right time of the year to get back on track. The point penalty was key, but what I really liked was Dunn's offense. He was really trying to win the TD.

More -- Just outgunned here. Had heart and will improve.

Haskett -- Honestly, one of the more disappointing matches. Was in full control and really built up the lead. Was extremely low in the tank at the end, but to not defend yourself like that after being let up TWICE in under 45 seconds at the end was just terrible --UVa took him down in seconds after the release both times. Haskett won the match and then gift wrapped it back to UVa.

Glad we still got the victory and I think a full strength this match is not nearly that close. I just hope we get the guys all healthy and peaking in a couple of weeks.
