I don't know of any that have a 50% benchmark.

But I have only taught elementary and now I'm in primary....made the change from 5th to 2nd just so I didn't have the stress of making my class of 11 year olds pass a science SOL, a Virginia Studies SOL, a reading SOL, a writing SOL, and a math SOL.
And my performance all depended on how those kids did on that singular test on that particular day.....no excuses. Now that makes for a fun job.
I also recall years ago the original goal for math and reading was increasing the pass rate to eventually make it 100%. The bureaucrats eventually realized that wasn't sane and took that out. Last I recall for all elementary SOLs, the benchmark is 70%.
Of course I teach at a school with a fairly large amount of involved parents in stable households so we do well. My previous school drew from several large trailer parks and 2 major low income housing developments. When students are 9 years old and their biggest worry is if they will get food, have electricity, or have to take care of their younger siblings....they (and their parent) could care less about SOLs.
