I have two roof-top (well chimney-top) external antennas.
I'm in Roanoke so I have one pointed towards the towers on Poor Mountain and one towards the station towers out of Danville. (I used TV TOWER USA app and the OTAMap apps to locate broadcast towers nearby). I jointed the two signals and ran it into the existing satellite junction box outside the house which allowed me to use the existing cable system inside to feed all my tvs. We get 25 over the air stations his way which provides a remarkable variety of programming. Granted, much of it older programming; but hell, tv was better then. We have a comedy channel, a sci-fi channel, several retro channels, etc. All this is free. We have Hulu ($8), Netflix ($9) and Amazon Prime (I already use this, but let's call this $9 as well). So for $26, we get all the entertainment option we want. I do add a Sling TV subscription ($25-30 I don't recall) during football season for ESPN, but may explore Direct NOW this season instead. So, worst case, I'm under $60 during football season. The rest of year, I'm under $30. We were paying something like $147 a month with Satellite. We're on our 3rd year without it and I really don't miss it.
