My totally non-UWS 4th of July micro-rant involves calling the

Beach Boys "legendary".

So many other synonymous descriptions, but PBS chose that one.

"famous, celebrated, famed, renowned, acclaimed, illustrious, esteemed, honored, exalted, venerable, well known, storied, popular, yada yada" All work far better.

But legendary?

Wyatt Earp or Buffalo Bill or Paul Bunyan are legendary. King Arthur, Hercules, Tom Swift, Jr. Same deal.

That's all I got.
