IMO, academics will have little or no effect on future expansion. The
academic reputation of schools are not dependent on conference affiliation. Texas will try to keep the BIG12 together for as long as possible and why not, they are king of the conference. If the BIG12 breaks up, I think Texas & TCU (SEC would like OU, but they are tied to Okie St) to the SEC, OU & Okie State to PAC12. Can't see any of these schools going north to the rust belt. BIG would either stand pat or pick up Kansas & Kansas State (they are also a package deal). The ACC will wait for Notre Dame to join as a football member. The 16th school would still be available whomever that is. The key to all this is who moves first: Texas or OU and would the SEC take OU & Okie St with the biggest prize Texas still out there or would they take Texas & TCU. I think any future expansion is years away and the football landscape could look nothing like it does today. Very fun to speculate in the meantime.
