In my experience, chiro is good for an acute problem, but less so for

a degenerative disk.

My degenerative disk is up in my neck instead of in the lumbar. Had me in chronic pain for the better part of five years too. Went to 3 different chiropractors, and only one was willing to actually say he couldn't help me. The others were perfectly willing to keep scheduling appointments.

But on the other hand, I've had several times over the years where I "threw out my back." And in those cases, a chiropractor has been wonderful. When I do manage to tweak something in my back, one trip to the chiro, a lot of Alleve, and I'm usually good in about four days (would take closer to ten days without the chiro).

But chiro did bupkus for the degenerative disk problem.
