The problem isn't disbelief, it's consistency


I suspend belief in movies all the time. But movies need some kind of internal logic. If I hit you once a certain way and it has little impact, then it will always be so. If I hit you a different way and you collapse, it will always be so because of the force, angle, sensitive spot, etc. In kung fu movies, one punch or kick, done multiple times in the same way and same impact spot, has widely varying impacts. I suspect it is due to fight choreography, more than anything. But it ruins the scene for me, because the effect of any impact is random. So every kick or punch means nothing, or everything, for no reason.
