Here's my problem with "king fu" shows/movies

I watched the pilot of IF, and liked it enough to keep watching. But it's already doing that thing where people fight, kung fu style, and 1) there is no rhyme nor reason around which punches land and do damage/don't do damage, and 2) after a battle, the people who were in it seem fine the next day (see Shannon the security guard). It makes the whole premise silly.

I know IF was trashed in online reviews, I'm guessing by people who know the character's comic history. I never heard of IF, so I am enjoying it for what it is. I just wish they would be consistent with the fighting.
