A even cheaper alternative for the grill would be
to hit them with some "plastic" paint. This requires a little surface prep, then spray it with "adhesion promoter" before you finally paint. It's cheaper, but requires a lot more work.
Pop off a rear tail light lense and check the reflective surface of the housing. My 80s BMWs have the reflective paint peeling off the inner housings, so I'm planning to do a similar plastic paint job, but with silver paint. Some people try to make their tail lights brighter by adding higher wattage bulbs or LEDs. Higher wattage bulbs risk melting the plastic housings by bringing more heat, so be careful. Be aware that if you install LEDs, you might trigger a "bulb out" warning on your Instrument panel. LEDs don't have the same resistance. Check the BMW E-34 message boards for solutions.
There are a bunch of neat projects, such as adding Homelink garage door openers. You can get the module off EBay for about $30. Then you just have to decide where to mount it.
Have fun! [Post edited by EDGEMAN at 01/31/2017 10:24AM]
