I've been consulting and am considering going back to FT. The position

for which I'm being considered is with a former employer so I benefit somewhat by knowing the process and where they're willing to bend.

I really like the work I would be doing but there's lots of hand wringing about my salary as I would be making more than higher level colleagues. I understand this completely and need to see how things fall out.

From the consulting rate, I'll take a huge cut in pay. The benefits will certainly increase the overall compensation package but the commute to the District will greatly affect my work life balance.
