Along those lines of IT field...

I am a software engineer but have seen over the 3+ decades of working in the field people who start out in IT then take evening classes to become network engineers. There are several certifications such as Cisco Network Engineer (CNE) and others you'd have to study and obtain. Eventually those guys work their way up to some serious coin.

To get started in IT you may have to take some Community College courses. Then, given what I assume is your home location in Hartwood (I'm from Fredericksburg) you could likely find a job at Quantico or NSWC (Dahlgren) without too hefty of a commute.

As mentioned SW testing is also a windfall career. You'll likely have to muscle your way in to the IT field first, though.
