Wheated bourbons are generally a good starting point

As far as sipping goes, a wheated bourbon is probably best to start with, and then, as you gain a more refined pallette, go from there. Wheated bourbons are generally a touch sweeter and smoother than other types of bourbon when drinking straight. Some wheated bourbons to look at are Maker's Mark, Larceny, Weller (12 year, if you can find it), and of course the holy grail that is Pappy.
