My thoughts

My standard bourbon is Makers' Mark, which is very good for the money. A great alternative at a similar price is Woodford Reserve. These are very smooth bourbons with a caramel-like finish.

Rye adds a little heat and harshness to the drink. You'll notice this in Wild Turkey 101. A good bourbon with high rye content is Bulleitt.

FYI, there are some very good specialty bourbons by Wild Turkey, like Russell's Reserve.

Best bourbon I've had is probably Blanton's.
