Football is king (right now) and appears to be the reason for

the changes in the collegiate athletic business model. However, what can't be proven or disproven is if these changes are a direct result of football driving the bus or the natural evolution of the collegiate athletic business model. Basically what I mean is the collegiate athletic business model has naturally evolved to a point where these changes would have occurred regardless of which sport was king at the time.
