Coach Dresser's Mid-April Newsletter - content

Here it is, minus the picture of the wrestlers with the NCAA 4th place trophy. Hopefully the formatting works:

Mid-April report!

Lots of stuff going on so I wanted to get everyone caught up. I need to get some dates out to all. Needless to say, it has been a whirlwind since we got back from NYC a month ago. So here goes in no special order

It is with sadness (and also much happiness for Dave) that I report that DAVID HOFFMAN has accepted the #1 assistant position at the University of Tenn-Chattanooga. David has been a big part of the success of this program and we wish him the very best. We will honor him later this spring at our annual Wrestling Awards Dinner. David begins work on Monday and will do some commuting back and forth for a bit. We will be excited (and sad) to honor him later this spring.

With that said, our annual Wrestling Awards Dinner will be on Thursday, May 12 at 7 pm. We will recognize all current team members. The dinner is open to the public so fans and especially parents are invited. The site and cost for the dinner will be sent out in our May Newsletter. This is always a special event because we get to honor our seniors and also hear their farewell speeches. This year we will be honoring Austin Gabel, Nick Brascetta, Cam Bowen, Dan Garwood, and Brandon Taylor.

Southeast Regional Training Center report. Our club is thriving, especially in the amount of donations with have received in the last 30 days. From a wrestling perspective, I think the investments we have made to keep the current coaching staff in Blacksburg PLUS the recent staff additions have all contributed to continual rise of our program. Moving forward, we are actively looking for at least one more guy to add to our RTC. I will have much more to report in either the May or June reports in regards to the continual development of the RTC and also the coaching changes at the second assistant and volunteer assistant positions. Obviously, I am working very hard to keep Mike and Derek in Blacksburg. I am confident that we are currently working in that direction.

From a fund-raising perspective, I cant thank all of you enough for getting on board and helping us RAISE THE BAR. Please check out all the donor levels available at our website:
www.southeastrtc.com.

If you havent donated, you can on that site. If you have donated and have NOT gotten your respective award, please email me and I will get you out something this week. We did have a back order on a few items but we appear to be fully stocked right now. Also note that our fiscal year for donations runs from Sept 1 Aug 31 so still have plenty of time to join our cause. I will also have our Secretary/Treasurer, JIM WELLS provide a financial recap of our current fiscal year so we stay in line with the guidelines of the Southeast Regional Training Center LLC and we lay all of our cards on the table.

Also note that we are still going to do a Southeast RTC Phone-a-thon to get all of you guys in the fund raising spirit. However, we are going to postpone it until September to fall in line with the turn of a new fiscal year. I think it will be fun and hopefully profitable. So be thinking about which Hokie wrestler you want calling YOU.

In closing, I will hopefully have some VERY exciting recruiting information in our May newsletter AND I will also talk about our freestyle progress. We are currently training for a couple of late spring/early summer events.
