This is the beginning of a strategic partnership between Babcock and

David Hagan, owner of the Pulaski Yankees and Calfee Park as well as the Motor Mile Speedway, Shelor Motor Mile car dealerships, and much of the NRV.

Hagan's goal is to make the Pulaski Yankees a Single A Carolina League ball team within the next five years. The plan would include moving the current rookie-league Yankees franchise to Blacksburg to play at English Field during the shorter Appalachian League season. Simply put, the leasing revenue arrangement for this move will help the Virginia Tech athletic department pay the debt service for the upcoming renovations to English Field. So, this is a win-win partnership for both Virginia Tech Athletics and for David Hagan.

I agree that the timing of this game with the Spring Game is not ideal, however I would encourage all visiting VT fans to make the short drive to Historic Calfee Park for the ballgame. The newly-renovated ball park is a mix of old and new and is a real treasure. Did I mention that they sell beer?
