Backstory - I helped my stepson buy a house in Baltimore around 4 years ago. Nice house, recently renovated, bought on a short sale.

He moved in with his best buddy and they got a third roommate. He lived there for about 2 years, then moved in with his girlfriend. Stepson decided to keep the house as a rental and the two remaining roommates found a third.

As soon as stepson moved out, the relationship changed dramatically. Best buddy didn't like the tenant-landlord relationship and expected stepson to cut him slack on rent, etc. When that didn't happen, things went south.

Then one day, stepson went over to investigate a possible plumbing leak and found best buddy was running a ganja distribution operation out of the basement. Product, scales, baggies, you name it.

Stepson and I talked and I advised him to evict. He ended up selling the house and essentially dissolving their relationship. This went down about a year ago. Best buddy relocated to another house.

And then, the law caught up with him...I shudder to think what would have happened if they had busted him in my stepson's house.
