Agree with you on both counts.


At the same time, Bre has good speed - if she hadn't had to stop for the ball to pass in front of her, she would have probably made it (i.e., running all the way). Once she stopped for the ball to go by, she was in trouble.

Of course, we also can't assume that things would have played out the same way with her on second base. (1) Would the GT pitcher thrown the same pitches and (2) would Katie have still gotten a base hit? Of course, we'll never know.

The other interesting decision that inning that no one has mentioned is putting Birle in to pinch hit for Whitcomb with Nolan on second base. Whitcomb has a .276 batting average - Birle has a .167 average. Curious decision at best. FWIW, Birle struck out.

It's easy for all of us to Monday morning quarterback.

What frustrating is that our pitchers gave us ONE run in 3 games and we only got two wins. Grrrrrr.
