I can't really say it's important, because it's not. I'm just an old, retired Hokie passing some time. I agree with some of your analogies, attrition is part of big time college sports. The reason I'm so interested in Camp is because of her outstanding freshman year. Last year, for about 2/3 of the season, she was one of the stars of the team. But this year, her minutes have been greatly diminished, and in the last several games, her minutes have gone to zero. This can be attributed to the arrival of better talent (Hicks). Other than Hicks, all of DW's new arrivals have lanquished on the bench.

As far as a coach maintaining control--I agree. When asked in an interview a few weeks ago, DW said that he and Camp had a disagreement over playing time. This was DW's response to a question about Camp not traveling with the team. Camp hasn't touched the floor for a second since. That's why I was asking about her. She had gotten off to such a great start last year, and now nothing.

I think you're aware that I have questioned (repeatedly) DW's player development, rotations and what I consider his lack of coaching ability. I've stated that I think DW should released. I, personally, would hate to lose Rachel Camp to another program because of DW, especially if he leaves. I, personally, think Camp would be, by far, the bigger loss.

I agree with you that it would be rare for a coach to be petty towards a player. However, with DW's track record, the rarity of the pettiness is not a defensible argument.
