you could grab 8 western STATE schools and 8 eastern STATE schools. Throw away Duke, Wake, BC, TCU, etc...

I'd propose the following divisions:

Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State

Kanas, Kansas State, Iowa State and add Colorado State

Florida State, Georgia Tech, Clemson and NC State

North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia

Still think this conference list above would feel like an albatross and hate being affiliated with Texas, but I could get behind this if there HAD to be a merger.

Weed out Miami, Duke, Wake, UL, Pitt, SU, BC, ND, TCU and Baylor. Those 10 could start their own conference and add some others to their mix.
