With this, I'd bring in ND and attempt to make it smaller than 24 teams...

...and here's how.

I'd make a list of "must keep/must have" teams to make it a go.

The list might look like this: UNC, Duke, UVa, Clemson, FSU, GT, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Notre Dame.

I'd then interview the other schools telling them, they won't be left out, but if you desire to be in another conference, it will be in the interest of the ACC25 to get smaller. For example, if invited VT might want to go to the B1G at this time.

Moreover, I'd put out a feeler to the PAC, SEC, and B1G that it's goin' down for real. And that other than the teams on the above list, other teams are available. So this would be the best (and maybe last) chance to get into a new state or region. So, the Pac12 might be interested in taking a TT, or the SEC might want to go after NCState and VT. And maybe the B1G takes a school or two.

In such a scenario, I could see the merger including ND and it also being a far more manageable number of say, 20.

But to your original point, I don't see the BigXII and ACC being on the same plane as the other three and I've always thought a full merger of some variation made sense.
