Just bought a Sony A5100. Just a tiny bit bigger than the real compacts but

it has a much larger sensor and an interchangeable lenses. With the basic lens it easily fits in a jacket pocket but not a shirt pocket. The improvement in image quality over the compacts is dramatic, even more than I expected, and the increase in size is not that much. It was a bit more the cheap compacts. Best Buy seems to always have an open box deal for $450. Money very well spent.
