the past 8 years. I was over qualified by most employers. They are all looking for cheaper managers and labor. I worked an average of 54 hours a week for 27 straight years. Even during all those recessions I thought everything was good. I never honestly thought much about those being unemployed and having trouble landing jobs equal or better than what they previously had. I know dozens of folks in my same situation. None of them need training, they are very qualified. Those jobs either go to younger workers who'll earn much less or go to H-1B1 visa workers who'll also work for less in order to eventually gain U.S. citizenship. My best route is to create my own business but getting small business loans has been very difficult. So, I moved and sold my home to take a lower paying job to survive with hopes that things will get better. That is my reality of the U.S. economy. I'm sure every American has their own story to tell.

As a college student at Tech, I watched the company that my father loyally worked for for 34 years close down and move to Taiwan. Losing that job was not because of him or his coworkers, but because the suits at corporate headquarters wanted to make a better profit so they packed up and left the country. By the way, that factory in Taiwan only lasted for 3 years and moved to Malaysia because they had even lower production wages. . It's probably in some African country today.
