This is not about a bad economy. As chuckd4vt suggests below


and the article indicates,broadcast and cable TV are going through a change. With so many options for viewing, the slices of the entertainment pie keep getting thinner.
With nearly ever show on every network available for viewing on demand and some of the best programming coming from Netflix and Amazon folks are simply changing the way they watch TV.
