The ACC isn't paid any more for media rights.

ESPN bought them and sold a collection of games to Raycom to use. But, the ACC does have a profit sharing contract with Raycom for what Raycom is now calling the ACC Network. It is supposed to be syndicated now with enough TV stations and regional sports networks to reach 90 million homes. There is a Profit Sharing contract directly with Raycom to make some amount of money from that.

It's no different than if ESPN created a cable channel. ESPN is not going to pay anymore for the media rights to the ACC, but the model would be to share in profit with ESPN for whatever the channel makes from cable subscriber fees.

What I'm talking about is the profit sharing with Raycom. The amount has never been disclosed about how profitable it is, but the ACC does get a share. That's why the ACC continues to claim it reaches 90 million homes now that Raycom has signed up stations all over the country. When the original contract between ESPN and Raycom was signed in 2010, Raycom syndication was only in ACC states. To allow them to spread all over the country, ACC negotiated the profit sharing. I've heard John Swofford discuss it in an interview somewhere. I've never seen a report on how much profit it now makes. One time a reporter asked him about getting an ACC Network. Swofford said the ACC already has a network, and he explained this profit sharing with Raycom. He said he's looking into a cable channel, not a network.
