And seeing that the auction brought in another $13k, when it's all said and done this season, your efforts (and the generosity of many TSLers) might bring in close to $50k for VT softball! Chip, an interesting question to perhaps pose to Coach Pete in the off-season might be what amount of "extra money" ie money beyond the money he is budgeted from Whit, does he feel he needs to be competitive not only in the conference but to be one of the best teams in the country? Obviously, the more the better and every little bit helps, but I just wonder what he feels like would be a nice amount that would allow him to do things that otherwise he may not be able to do ie you have given some examples such as buying extra equipment, flying vs busing to long distance games (including being able to fly to big early season venues), as well as just little perks that make the ladies feel special such as nicer gear (sunglasses, sweats, etc). Perhaps if we had a "number" each season, that could be a goal that the TSL community could reach for to provide that support. As in most things in life, if you have a goal at the outset of your journey, that gives you something to shoot/plan for. Let's say for example that Coach Pete said that if somehow he had an extra $100k per year from donors, he would then feel like he could do pretty much EVERYTHING he would envision he would need to do to remain one of the nation's top softball programs. If Hokie Nation (TSLers) knew that at the outset, then we could set that as on overall goal to hit with the combination of all of our various fundraisers. Not saying we would hit whatever goal he/we set, but knowing what the goal is might be helpful. Anyway, just a thought for the offseason perhaps - in the meantime there's more important things to worry about in the next few weeks! Go Hokies!!
