Depends on the travel purpose and location.

For work recently I elected to rent a car (midsized SUV was a little over $400 for a week through Enterprise) and drive almost 20 hours round trip rather than flying 16 hours round trip (due to layovers and location). Saved the company money with no airfare and if I did fly, I’d have to rent a car anyways. One long delay or cancelled flight and now I’m past that 20 hours easily. I also enjoy driving and like the overall control I have on my travels and combined with navigation apps, makes it easier to avoid delays.
