Recruting trips, especially unofficial ones are very time and energy

consuming as it pretty much takes up your whole weekend. The fact that they are at VT and watching a game is significant because you can't go to every school that is talking to you. It's impossible.

As a parent, the recruiting process is very draining both mentally and physically. You work a full time job, then take time off to drive several hundred miles on a weekend, spend $$, and then report back to work on Monday. All the while, you're managing your child's expectations and managing your weekend plan (when/where to eat, exploring the town/campus, talking to teachers if possible). As a parent, you don't really have any downtime while your kid actually gets to check out and refresh from time-to-time by sleeping in the car, puts their earbuds in, etc. Even when your kid is engaged with the team/coaches, you're still sitting around waiting.
