I'm not an expert, but shooting is only a part of what I think MY wants...
in a "3." MY's two wings are essentially bookend players with similar skillsets. Add the fact that the point guard is more of a combo guard type, both wings need to have guard type skills - able to handle the ball, drive the ball to the basket from as far out as the 3-point line, and be able cut and shoot curling off screens (not just catch and shoot).
I think that means MY will always lean towards 6'5" guards at the 3 vs. 6'7" forwards (even if they can shoot). That will continue to be a challenge being "undersized" at the position, but I think it's a trade-off I can live with.
I think Maddox is absolutely the prototypical "3" in MY's offensive system.
