UT gives up what I think is a lot of HRs. Everyone but Ashley Rogers can easily give it up. I think VT will see Bailey McCachren in the circle, with relievers behind her assuming she doesn’t pitch the game of her career. Based on this past weekend’s usage, I think they’ll save Erin Edmoundson unless it’s close late and a chance to win.

Free passes will be huge this game. The # of hit batters is discussed below.

Also UT is much more scrappy than in past seasons. They won’t be daunted by a Hokie lead. They rallied from 8-4 down to Texas A&M after giving up 4 HRs in one inning. However Hokie pitching is WAY better than A&M’s.

Also UT is very good at making adjustments. I know most teams pass info from hitter to hitter, but it’s rare where I don’t see the previous hitter talking to the next batter. Constant communication across the board.

Also be wary of the speed. If Kiki Milloy gets on base, it’s not a matter of if but when she’ll be on 2nd base. Also Hokie arms in the OF could get tested. If there is a weak arm, they will exploit it. One of the bigger girls on the team got a double on what should have been a single cause the LF couldn’t throw to save her life.

VT will need to score some runs, UT has only been shutout once all year. And they handled UVA twice, while the Hokies struggled for the most part.
