There is one early warning sign I just experienced


Blood in the urine. Obviously that's disconcerting and necessitated ultrasounds, MRI's, etc.

Actually, @AZHokie59, I just had surgery 11 days ago myself to remove a similarly large stone. And I had the post-surgery kidney stent removed yesterday (thank heavens). Not a fun experience.
