There is some speculation this will lead to smaller rosters in some sports

The money pot is not getting bigger or at least not significantly, and that money will go to fewer athletes. For sports like swimming especially this is going to cause a culling of rosters at least at the top and trickle down through the ranks. The mid major coaches are excited because this may push some P5 talent downward, and D2s are anticipating this to help them as well.

I'm wondering about the Ivies. They don't give athletic scholarships, but now that you can pay based on academics, does this give them the ability to give athletes money?
